In America, today is Labor Day, a national holiday when we take a break from the work we do every day and RELAX.
Of course, being a Type A personality and a writer, I’ll still be writing, but as this title indicates, for me that is a labor of love. (I went on about this at length in a previous post.) So today, as we transition out of 10 weeks of Arthurian England posts into a few weeks of writerly posts (stay with me, non-writers, I’m just giving King Arthur a break for a bit), I want to hear from you. What is your labor of love? What would you do for free just because it makes you happy? It could be anything: photography, basket weaving, herding cattle, watching paint dry…to each his/her own. Leave your answer in the comments.
And for anyone wondering about my Sit Down and Write progress (because I know you’re holding your breath), I’ve written 8,622 words out of my 15,000 – 20,000 goal. There are six days to go after today. And today I’m hitting a major milestone in Book 3: The Battle of Camlann. Oh, it’s going to be so much fun!

Oh gosh. Reading this post instantly calmed me. I’ve been running around trying to finish homework (“SOOO college”), but all I really want to do is write. I finally owned the title, “writer” and I’m trying to make up for lost time, which is why I’m here. That’s my labor of love: writing. And cooking. Where does your inspiration come from? 🙂

I’m proud of you for owning the title of “writer.” That’s a huge step. If you believe you are one, then you are.
My inspiration really comes from all over: my research, people i meet, other books i read, music, tv, reading interviews/tweets of other writers -anything. There are even 2 actors who inspire me. Is there any specific part of inspiration you’re asking about?
Oh and i love to cook, too. Runs in my mom’s family, but only the women. We like to joke that we come from a long line of “kitchen witches.”

Rachelle Lefevre (Julia on Under the Dome) and Joseph Morgan (Klaus on The Vampire Dairies/The Originals).
Here’s a little secret: that feeling that your work could be better happens to everyone and it never goes away. I’ve met writers who are on their 20th book who still feel that way. Don’t let it het you down!
Writing, naturally, and cooking. I work in catering but it doesn’t put me off wanting to cook when I get home, I just love it more. I wouldn’t be able to choose between the two though!

Wow, it amazes me that you can cook all day in your job and then still want to do it when you get home! Well, I guess it shouldn’t because I do the same thing! I write for my day job and then come home and write fiction. Maybe the key is it being two different kinds of cooking/writing, and one for purely enjoyment?
Agreed. Although, I find it is rare to be in this position. I couldn’t imagine doing something as a job that I wasn’t first and foremost passionate about at home.
